Coaches Background Check –

Dear LYB Families,

With any youth sports organization, it is imperative to vet all staff and coaches utilizing the best and most comprehensive method of background checking available. At Longwood Youth Basketball (LYB), your child's safety is our absolute highest priority.

To ensure the safest possible environment, we utilize the National Center for Safety Initiatives (NCSI) for our screenings. This is the gold standard of background checking, trusted and used by national law enforcement agencies, including our own Suffolk County Police Department and Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office.

We take this responsibility so seriously that LYB takes it upon ourselves to fully fund every single scan for all adults involved in our programs. This ensures that every coach, volunteer, and staff member stepping onto the field with your children has been thoroughly and rigorously vetted without exception.

A reportable record or disclosure that contains a disposition or resolution of a criminal proceeding, other than an adjudication of not guilty, for any of the below criminal offenses will be flagged as a Red-Light, meaning it does not meet the initial screening criteria established by the Client, and the individual will be subject to the Client’s policies and procedures to determine eligibility:
